French white wine values tasted in 2008
The selected French bottlings have given me much pleasure for the price. I have purchased them again for personal consumption. I would consider doing so even with a 50 percent mark-up. (My criteria are explained here.)
The below wines were tasted in France, in 2008 (between April and December).
Vin de pays des Coteaux de l'Ardèche - Vignerons ardéchois - sauvignon
2007 - USD 9.6 - a nose of green almond - onctuous, dry but with glycerin, green almond, lively
Muscadet de sèvre et maine sur lie - A.Michel Brégeon
2004 - USD 10 - a nose of beeswax, lichee and lime blossom - the palate is intense and drying, with the structure of a Chablis, lichee, lime blossom, lively
Alsace - Audrey et Christian Binner - Saveurs printanières - (sylvaner, muscat et gewürtztraminer)
Non vintage - USD 15 - onctuous, aromatic, low alcohol, fresh
Muscadet de sèvre et maine - A.Michel Brégeon - (bouteille bourguignonne) - Elevé sur lies en cuve pendant 5 ans
2003 - USD 16 - a nose of citrus - minerally, intense, fresh
Alsace - Audrey et Christian Binner - Katzenthal - riesling
2004 - USD 20 - harmonious - a nose showing pebble - velvety, pebble, roasted almond, tiny gaz beads, fresh - pebble, roasted almond
When choosing wines, remember to buy according to your needs.
